 USWDA War Dog Memorial

The US War Dogs Memorial, designed by Sculptor Bruce Lindsay and dedicated on June 10, 2006, honors military working dogs and their handlers – past, present and future. The memorial recognizes the tens of thousands of MWDs that have served alongside their handlers since World War I and was the first sculpture to be commissioned by our organization.

Michigan War Dog Memorial and Cemetery

Established in 2013, the Michigan War Dog Memorial and Cemetery has one goal in mind – To honor the service and sacrifice of the retired Military Working Dogs and Service Dogs who served their country in times of war and peace. MWDM provides internment of departed K9’s with full honors at no cost to the owner. As well as creating a serene and reverent park setting for the cemetery itself, MWDM also provides research for military records and service records of the War Dogs interned. This memorial is located at 25805 Milford Rd, South Lyon, MI 48178.

Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s Military Working Dog (MWD) Memorial

 Modeled on German Shepherd Chyba C260, a narcotics-detection MWD who deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004, this memorial is dedicated to all MWDs and their handlers, for their service and sacrifice. One of only eight in the nation, and the first private memorial west of the Mississippi River, the granite sculpture is located at 389 Requeza Street, Encinitas, CA.

  The Pledge Arlington, VA

The Pledge, designed by sculptor Susan Bahary and unveiled on October 17, 2020, is a life-sized bronze statue dedicated to all women who serve in the US Armed Forces. Special consideration is given to women serving in combat roles, denoted by the female MWD Handler and her Belgian Malinois. This memorial is located at the Women’s Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery.

Vietnam War Dog Monument 

 Vietnam War Dog Monument 

Recently completed by sculpture Wayne Hyde and dedicated on September 12, 2020, the Vietnam War Monument of Bedford, Pennsylvania now showcases a life-sized statue of Medal of Honor Recipient Staff Sgt. Robert Hartsock and his Scout Dog Duke. Staff Sgt. Robert Hartsock was the first military working dog handler to receive the Medal of Honor, awarded posthumously for his actions on February 23, 1969. The sculpture now forms part of a larger dedication to those who served in Vietnam – particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The War Dog Memorial Colorado

 The War Dog Memorial Colorado

 Dedicated on September 12, 2020, The War Dog Memorial Colorado is a tribute to the historical legacy of selfless service and heroic sacrifices of US War Dogs. The memorial acknowledges the service of both military working dogs and contract working dogs from World War I to the Global War on Terrorism. A bronze German Sheperd and Labrador Retriever sit atop a granite base – always on alert like the warriors they represent.

Sergeant Stubby Statue at The Connecticut Trees of Honor Memorial

 Paying tribute to the unselfish devotion and sacrifice of Connecticut military veterans, this statue features Connecticut-born Sgt. Stubby and his handler Cpl. J. Robert Conroy. Known as America’s first unofficial service dog team, the pair were instrumental in providing care and comfort to American soldiers across 17 battlefields during WW1. Dedicated on May 28, 2018, Susan Bahary’s bronze sculpture stands at Middletown’s Veteran Memorial Park, Middletown, CT 06457.

The Service and Sacrifice Monument

Unveiled to the public on November 11, 2021, the Service and Sacrifice Monument is a life-sized memorial to past, present, and future service members of the US sea services and to all military working dog teams. Susan Bahary’s bronze statue features Seal Team Six handler John Douangdara and his MWD Bart, who were killed alongside 29 US Army Soldiers and Navy SEALs in Wardak Province, Afghanistan, August 2011. The sculpture is located at the United States Navy Memorial, 701 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20004.
