Civilian Liaison Officer, United States Wardogs Association, Inc.
In 1999, Karen (Bakerjian) Wimberly became interested in the plight of both the war dogs that served in Viet Nam and their handlers. She contacted fellow New Jerseyan, Ron Aiello, and started to attend fund-raising events for the United States War Dog Memorial in Holmdel, New Jersey.
She has been active in supporting the organization’s mission and vision since its inception.
Karen earned her BA from Montclair State College and her MSW from Rutgers University, with a concentration in health care.
She is a licensed in New Jersey as a Clinical Social Worker and has worked for over 2 decades in medical and behavioral health settings.
Karen is in the final phase of completing the Post-Graduate Veterinary Social Work Certificate Program at The University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
She has been the United States War Dogs Association Civilian Liaison Officer since its formation.
Karen lives with her husband, Gene, and their Dalmation.
