Four-footed soldiers: Award to honor America’s war dogs

CATHEDRAL CITY — American war dogs, which have put their lives on the line since World War I, are being honored at next month’s Pegasus Riding Academy benefit luncheon where a “Saving American Lives” award is being presented for the first time to the K-9 unit at the Marine base in Twentynine Palms.

All branches of the U.S. Armed Forces use dogs specializing in drug and bomb/explosive detection.
