Saving Sergeant Rex

An upstate New York Marine is on a mission to save the dog that served alongside her in Iraq.

Marine Corporal Megan Leavey of Rockland County, NY, is desperately trying to adopt Sergeant Rex, a German Shepherd military working dog. When Leavey served two tours in Iraq, the two were a team tasked with identifying and disabling roadside bombs.

    News. I agree you should be able to adopt this dog, She’s yours! Is this dog trained to attack? That may be a reason why you can’t, if.. That is the case. My husband would also like to adopt a war dog. He served in the Marines during the Vietnam War in the late 1960’s. He was an demolition expert. He knows just how you feel. This dog might help you if you have PTST. Who knows, the dog could have it too. You could help each other to adjust. Believe me, I know what it’s like to live with someone who suffers from it. Even if you don’t have PTSD, the dog should be given to you, if they are retiring the dog. Good luck. I hope you get her.
