Kim Roberson

Social Media Director, United States War Dogs

Association, Inc.

Kim is an active-duty Staff Sergeant (E-5) in the United States Air Force. After attending the University of San Antonio for two years, Kim pursued her military calling, with the intention of becoming a dog handler.

Following Kim’s first deployment to Kuwait in 2017, she returned home and started the basic handlers’ course. After graduating the course, Kim returned to Edwards Air Force Base with MWD GGreta V243, with whom she competed in the Bakersfield K9 Competition against 39 other law enforcement agencies. Kim and Ggreta came home with second prize in the area search category – a personal highlight and a massive accomplishment for the dog team.

In October 2019, Kim was assigned to Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan and paired with MWD Dax T524 but shortly after the team formed, Dax had to retire on health grounds. Kim adopted him and spoiled him in his well-deserved retirement until he passed away in July 2021 from lung cancer. Kim was paired with MWD Sony Y007 in January 2020 and worked with her until January 2022.

While stationed in Japan. Kim attended the Military Working Dog Trainer's Course and has held the position of trainer within the team since September 2021, with her girl Sony at her side, helping her through the course and transition into the new role.

Kim’s passion for the dogs and the work of her teams prompted her to set up a dedicated Instagram and TikTok page. The pages enjoy a fantastic following and it was through Instagram that Kim and US War Dogs first came into contact.

While not training dogs, Kim loves to be outside exploring and relaxing in nature, which really allows her to unwind. She has loved living out in Japan and enjoys spending time with her Okinawa family.
